History of Water System
A legacy of service, commitment, and quality water for our community.
The Beginning
PMV Water Association, Inc. was formed to associate its members together for their mutual benefit to maintain and operate a water system for domestic, commercial, agricultural and other purposes.
1930's
The original basic Pine Mountain Valley Water system was constructed during the 1930's with Federal Aid under the Roosevelt Administration.
December 1945
The system was owned by the GEORGIA PINE MOUNTAIN VALLEY RURAL COMMUNITY CORPORATION which operated the system until December, 1945. At the time the system was deeded over to HARRIS COUNTY, a political subdivision of the State of Georgia.
October 1947
In October, 1947 the HARRIS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF ROADS AND REVENUES quit claimed the property to the PINE MOUNTAIN VALLEY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
October 1971
The PINE MOUNTAIN VALLEY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE operated and maintained the system until October, 1971 at which time all property was deeded to the PMV WATER ASSOCIATION, INC.
March 1971
PMV WATER ASSOCIATION, INC. was incorporated in March, 1971 organizing under the provisions of the Georgia Nonprofit Corporation Code (Ga. Acts 1968, pp.565, 731 as amended; Ga. Code Ann. 22-2101 et seq.). The PMV WATER ASSOCIATION operates under bylaws which may be changed by a majority of members present at any regular or special meeting.
