The 4th of July is a time for celebration, community, and good food. This year, the annual BBQ event supporting the Pine Mountain Valley Volunteer Fire Department takes place on Saturday, July the 4th from 11:00am to 2:00pm at the Pine Mountain Valley Park (Hwy 116 E) and offers a perfect way to enjoy the holiday while giving back to those who keep our neighborhoods safe. Whether you’re a local resident or just passing through, this gathering promises delicious grilled favorites, fun activities, and a chance to connect with neighbors—all for a great cause.

Why Support the PMV Volunteer Fire Department
Volunteer fire departments like PMV play a crucial role in protecting communities, especially in smaller towns and rural areas. These firefighters dedicate their time and energy without pay, often balancing their service with full-time jobs and family responsibilities. Fundraising events such as the 4th of July BBQ help provide essential equipment, training, and resources that keep the department ready to respond to emergencies.
Supporting this BBQ means supporting the safety and well-being of your community. The funds raised go directly toward:
Purchasing updated firefighting gear
Maintaining fire trucks and equipment
Offering training programs for volunteers
Community education on fire prevention and safety
By attending, you contribute to a stronger, safer neighborhood.
What to Expect at Fire up the Valley
This event is more than just a meal; it’s a full community experience. Here’s what you can look forward to:
Delicious Food
The grill will be fired up with traditional pit-cooked B-B-Q ($10/plate - pork or chicken.
Family-Friendly Activities
Bring the whole family to enjoy fun and entertainment suitable for all ages. Kids and kids-at-heart can take part in the Fire Hose Soak-Down at 1:45pm. Adults can join in the Silent Auction, with prizes donated by local businesses. We will also have the Cannon Salute, Live Music (with Randy & Darlene & Nonie), and just good Old Fashioned Community Fun.
Meet the Firefighters
This is a unique chance to meet the PMV Volunteer Fire Department team. Learn about their work, see the fire trucks up close, and ask questions about fire safety. Volunteers often share stories from the field, giving insight into their dedication and the challenges they face.
Community Connection
Events like this strengthen bonds between neighbors. It’s a chance to catch up with friends, meet new people, and celebrate the holiday together. The festive atmosphere, combined with the shared goal of supporting the fire department, creates a strong sense of unity.
Tips for Making the Most of the BBQ
To enjoy the event fully, consider these practical tips:
Arrive early to secure a good spot and avoid long lines.
Dress comfortably for outdoor activities and variable weather.
Bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day.
Plan for parking by carpooling or using designated areas to reduce congestion.
If you want to contribute beyond attending, consider volunteering to help set up or clean up. The fire department always appreciates extra hands.
How Your Support Makes a Difference
Every dollar raised at the BBQ has a direct impact. For example, recent fundraising efforts helped PMV Volunteer Fire Department purchase new breathing apparatuses, which are vital for firefighter safety in smoke-filled environments. These devices can cost thousands of dollars each, far beyond what the department’s regular budget covers.
Join the Celebration and Support a Vital Cause
The 4th of July BBQ supporting the PMV Volunteer Fire Department is a chance to enjoy great food, fun activities, and meaningful community connection. It’s an opportunity to show appreciation for the volunteers who protect us and to help ensure they have the tools they need.
Mark your calendar, invite your friends and family, and get ready to "Fire up the Valley" for a day of celebration and support. Together, we can make a difference while enjoying one of the best parts of summer—good food and good company.
